In May of 2010, Tony Muro picked up some art supplies at a local craft store.  At the time, he was recovering from a long and abusive relationship with drugs and alcohol. Unemployed, he needed something to not only fill the time, but to help him express the thoughts and emotions that come with the difficult and painful road to recovery from substance abuse.

With the completion of his first few works, his friends had encouraged him to continue to paint, and within a year, he had completed over ninety pieces.  Since then, Muro has attempted to capture his experience of living a sober life and to document his self discovery along the way; all through the lens of the abstract and surreal. Each piece is a reflection  of growth through brutal and unflinching honesty, breaking down barriers and building a new understanding of the world.   He is happy to share this experience with you.

His work is for sale and he is available for commission. Tony is based in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.
